Canadian Pacific and the Montreal Port Authority on Friday signed a collaborative agreement that sets standards for performance and productivity across their joint supply chains.
The new agreement is similar to the performance agreements CP and CN Rail have signed with other ports they serve across Canada.
The new agreement with the Port of Montreal is the fifth collaboration agreement CP has announced in the past 12 months.
CP said its tracks provide the most direct routing between the Port of Montreal and distribution centers in the U.S. Middle West and Northeast.
"In a typical year, CP freight trains carry the equivalent of more than 1 million truckloads of merchandise through the Detroit River Tunnel, moving goods from Canada's industrial heartland and trans-Atlantic trade from the Port of Montreal to the American market," it said in its announcement.
