Zim Adds Halifax Call to Atlantic Service

Zim Integrated Shipping Services is adding a call at the Port of Halifax in July in its Zim Container Service Atlantic, known as the ZCA service.

The new call is a plus for Halifax, which lost several services last year, including a reduction in the number of calls by Zim.

The Israeli carrier deploys six container ships with capacities of 4,250 20-foot equivalent units in the service, which will use the Halterm Terminal in Halifax.

The port rotation of the ZCA will be Haifa, Piraeus, Genoa, Tarragona, Halifax, New York, Savannah, Kingston, Tarragona and back to Haifa.

The transit times to Halifax are seven days from Tarragona, eight days from Genoa, and 14 days from Haifa.

The first Halifax call is scheduled for July 19 by the Zim Texas, which starts the new westbound port rotation from Haifa on July 3.

Zim also calls at the Halterm Terminal on the ZCP service covering the trade between Asia, the U.S. West Coast, and the east coasts of the U.S. and Canada.
