United Arab Shipping Company has joined other major ocean carriers in announcing a peak-season surcharge on westbound cargo from Asia to North Europe, starting Aug. 1.
MSC and Hapag-Lloyd have recently issued surcharge notices of $350 per 20-foot-equivalent unit on the same trade lanes, effective Aug. 1.
Middle East-based UASC will charge $325 per TEU on all cargo, including reefers and special equipment.
UASC will also apply a general rate increase of the same amount on trades from Asia to the western Mediterranean and the Adriatic, starting Aug. 1.
