German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd announced a series of surcharges on cargo moving to and from ports in Libya.
The additional charges, which take effect Nov. 19, include: a $160 per 20-foot container equipment imbalance fee; a $130 per-TEU congestion fee; and a $30 per-TEU war risk surcharge.
In other news, Cosco Container Lines started charging a $200 per-TEU “port congestion surcharge”, effective Oct. 18, on shipments from the Far East to Sokhna Port, Egypt.
The Chinese carrier will also apply an “operational recovery surcharge” on all shipments from the Far East to Jeddah Port, Saudi Arabia. Starting Nov. 1, the planned surcharge will be $80 per TEU.
