OOCL will implement a further general rate increase on the North Europe to Asia trade on June 15.
Applicable to all cargo loading North Europe for delivery in Asia, the US$200 per 20-foot or 40-foot container hike is in addition to a $200 per TEU or FEU increase introduced by the Hong Kong-based ocean carrier on May 15.
OOCL also implemented a $200 per TEU and $300 per FEU rate increase on the trade on April 15.
“Currently, ocean freight rates continue to be below the required level to cover basic operating costs or transportation costs on our North Europe to Asia Trade,” OOCL said in a statement.
“Further rate restorations to be applied during 2012 will be announced in due course.”
