NYK Group to Aid Victims of Philippine Typhoon

JOC Staff |
The NYK Group will donate 100,000 U.S. dollars through the NYK-TDG Friendship Foundation* and provide free transport of supplies to those directly affected by deadly Typhoon Haiyan (known locally as Yolanda), which struck the Philippines on November 8. In addition, the NYK Group has started to collect donations from executives and employees at companies throughout the group.
The NYK Group established the NYK Group–JPF Joint Aid Supplies Transportation Projects with Japan Platform (JPF)** in 2004 to support the quick recovery of areas impacted by disasters. In response to a request from JPF, the free ocean transport of 1,000 tents from Japan to the Philippines has been arranged.
In the Philippines, NYK runs the NYK-TDG Maritime Academy with the Transnational Diversified Group (TDG)*** and is thus positively involved in fostering and recruiting Philippine seafarers.
NYK has deep concern for those harmed by this natural disaster and offers its wishes for a quick recovery. In the hopes of aiding victims of disasters through our supportive action, NYK will continue its efforts to be proactively involved in contributing to society.
