Mediterranean Shipping Co. notified its customers that it will implement a general rate increase on all cargo moving from the U.S. to Australia and New Zealand next month.
It said special rates and arrangements, spot rate requests and existing service contracts will all be increased.
The increase, which will take effect on Aug. 15 based on shipped on board date, will be $175 per 20-foot container and $350 per 40-foot container.
Notice of the MSC increases came after Hapag-Lloyd said it will raise rates from the U.S. to Australia and New Zealand by the same amount on Aug. 15.
