Mediterranean Shipping Co. will raise rates on all dry cargo from North Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic, the U.K. and Ireland to the Far East, including Japan, starting April 1. The hike will be $150 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container.
The carrier will also increase rates on cargo from any Asian port to New Zealand by $250 per 20-foot-equivalent unit, effective April 1.
Additionally, MSC has announced the level of several bunker contributions, including on its South Africa southbound trade, Canary southbound and northbound trade and Australia and New Zealand southbound trade, as well as its trade from North Europe and the Mediterranean to South America’s west coast, Central America and Venezuela ports, and its southbound trade from the Adriatic and western Mediterranean to South Africa and Mozambique.
The carrier also said bookings have closed for cargo from Europe to the Middle East and Asia until the first week of April.
