Hapag-Lloyd Sets East Asia Rate Hikes

German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd will increase its rates on East Asia services starting in November.

Rates on shipments from East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Indian subcontinent will increase 150 per 20-foot-equivalent unit, effective Nov. 1. The subcontinent region includes ports in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Effective Nov. 24, the carrier’s rates on all cargo from East Asia to the east coast of South America will increase by $500 per TEU.
