Hapag-Lloyd to Raise East Asia-Persian Gulf Rates

Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates, beginning March 15, for all cargo from East Asia, excluding Japan, to the Persian Gulf. The rate hike will be $500 per 20-foot-equivalent unit. 

The German ocean carrier also will implement an equipment maintenance fee, starting March 1, for all imports into Japan. The fee will be $15 per 20-foot container and $20 per 40-foot container.

Additionally, Hapag-Lloyd has revised its terminal handling charges in Venezuela for import and export cargo, effective March 1. The charges are $100 per exported unit for dry cargo and $180 per imported unit for all types of equipment.
