Hapag-Lloyd to Hike East Asia-Red Sea Rates

Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates for all cargoes and container types from East Asia, excluding Japan, to the Red Sea, by $500 per 20-foot-equivalent unit, effective March 15.

The Red Sea includes the ports of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Aqaba, Jordan; Ain Sukhna, Egypt; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Al Hudaydah, Yemen.

The ocean carrier will also revise its bunker adjustment factor on trade from Northeast Asia to Australia. The surcharge will be $600 per TEU, effective March 23.

Northeast Asia includes Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
