APL and Hapag-Lloyd are reorganizing the port rotation of their jointly operated Asia-Mexico Express Service Loop 2 (AME2), effective this month.
The fixed-day weekly service will discontinue its existing calls at Yantian, China, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to be replaced with Xiamen and Yangshan, China.
The revised AME2 port coverage will be as follows: Chiwan, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Yangshan, Manzanillo and Lazaro Cardenas.
The first vessel under the new schedule will be APL London, scheduled to arrive at Chiwan on Dec. 21.
Separately, Hapag-Lloyd said it will impose an “emergency revenue charge” on its services from India to the U.S. and Canada. Starting Dec. 21, the carrier will charge $360 per 20-foot, $450 per 40-foot, $505 per 40-foot high cube and $550 per 45-foot high cube container for all cargo and specialized equipment, including flatracks and open-top boxes.
