Hapag-Lloyd will raise its rates on services from the Indian subcontinent to the U.S., starting Aug. 15.
Rates on shipments from ports in India to all destinations in the U.S. will increase by $260 per 20-foot, $325 per 40-foot, $365 per 40-foot high cube and $411 per 45-foot container.
From Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to the U.S., the planned increase will be $240 per 20-foot, $300 per 40-foot, $340 per 40-foot high cube and $380 per 45-foot container.
The increases will apply to all cargo and containers, including open-top and flat-rack equipment.
The move comes after Singapore-based container carrier APL issued a rate hike notice on India-U.S. trades, which takes effect Aug. 5.
