Hamburg Süd Group is a global shipping and logistics company based in Germany. Formed in 1871, Hamburg Süd is the world’s 11th-largest container shipping line and is one of the leading carriers in the North-South trades. The ocean carrier employs 4491 individuals, and owns a fleet of 103 container ships with a total capacity of 457,000 TEUs.

Hamburg Süd Group posted revenues of 5.3 billion euros in 2013 — down 3.9 percent on a year-on-year basis.

Hamburg Süd was the 16th-ranked container carrier in U.S containerized import trade in 2013, with volume of 313,643 TEUs, down 0.6 percent year-over-year, giving it market share of 1.7 percent. It was No. 14 in U.S. containerized export trade in 2013, with volume of 400,287 TEUs, up 4.3 percent year-over-year and market share of 3.1 percent.
