Hamburg Sud to Hike Europe-South America Rates

Hamburg Sud and Alianca Navegacao will increase rates for all cargoes from North Europe and the U.K. to South America’s east coast, effective April 1.

The increase will be $200 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot container.

The rate hike will take effect from the following voyages: Santa Clara voyage 314 southbound with an estimated time of arrival in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on April 29; CMA CGM America voyage 313 southbound with an ETA in Le Havre, France, on April 25; and MSC Oriane voyage 312 southbound with an ETA in Antwerp, Belgium, on April 27.

Hamburg Sud has also announced two rate increases of $200 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot container on its trade from the Mediterranean to South America’s east coast, effective in late March and in May, and an increase of $300 per 20-foot-equivalent unit on shipments from the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent to Europe, South America and the Caribbean, effective March 1.

Separately, Evergreen Line announced it will hike rates on all cargo on its roundtrip trade from the Far East, including Japan, and Indian subcontinent to Europe and the Mediterranean. Effective March 1, from Europe and the Mediterranean to the Far East and Indian subcontinent, the hike will be $150 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot and 40-foot high-cube container. Effective March 15, from the Far East and Indian subcontinent to Europe and the Mediterranean, the increase will be $700 per 20-foot container and $1,400 per 40-foot and 40-foot high-cube container.
