Hamburg Sud Christens 7,100-TEU Ship

Hamburg Sud this week christened the Santa Barbara, the last in a series of 10 7,100-20-equivalent-unit container ships that the German ocean carrier has added to its fleet.

The vessel, which is fitted with 1,600 reefer plugs, has been operating since delivery in May in Hamburg Sud’s service between Asia and South Africa and the east coast of South America.

The christening ceremony was held at the Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) in Shenzhen, China.
