FPS delivers 52 containers of steel coil.Famous Pacific Shipping’s branch in Melbourne, Australia, has secured a contract to handle the import, unpacking and inland delivery of 52 containers with 1,138 metric tons (about 1,254 tons) of steel coil.
The steel arrived in Melbourne on an ANL sailing from China. FPS Melbourne handled monitoring the shipment, customs clearance, collection of the containers from the wharf and transfer to its 10,000 square meter (about 107,639 square foot) container freight station and warehouse facility.
Because the steel requires slitting before it can be used in the construction of multi-level commercial buildings, FPS is delivering the steel via flatbed trucks to a slitting plant about 30 miles away, where it will be unloaded, slit and delivered to FPS customers.
