JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Global carrier Evergreen Line, the fourth largest containership operator in the world, topped overall performance and consultation on schedule change in a recent survey released by Containerisation International magazine.

The survey of Asia-based shipper respondents noted that customer service and reasonable rates are two of the most important factors to evaluate the service rendered by a shipping line.

Shippers want more flexibility, information and customer care, which customers have said Evergreen consistently delivers. Evergreen is continuing to focus on environment-friendly initiatives and has commissioned the construction of 10 L-class environmentally advanced ships, the first of which is scheduled to be delivered by China Shipbuilding Corp. this year. Evergreen already operates 20 L-class ships built by Samsung Heavy Industries Co.

Equipped with fuel-saving features, the ships are designed to reduce carbon emissions. They utilize tin-free coatings as well as environment-friendly materials to prevent marine pollution to meet the requirements for obtaining the Green Passport of ship recycling.
