Taiwan-based Evergreen Group today held a naming ceremony for the Ever Leader, Evergreen Line’s eighth L-type container ship, at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard.

The vessel was christened by Bronson Hsieh, Evergreen Group’s second vice group chairman. It is owned by Evergreen Marine and is scheduled for delivery on Jan. 15.

The container ship, which has a capacity of 8,452 20-foot-equivalent units, is 334 meters in length (about 1,096 feet) and about 150 feet wide, with 942 reefer plugs and a draft of about 47 feet.

Eleven more L-type vessels for Evergreen are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2013.
