Evergreen Line’s North American agent, Evergreen Shipping Agency (America) Corp., has temporarily moved its Jersey City office to another location while repair work is conducted on the building that houses its headquarters.
"We have had a seamless transition with our offices and logistics centers throughout the U.S. enhancing the ongoing work being conducted here in New Jersey," said Roy Amalfitano, the agency’s president, in a written statement. "The temporary office allows us to maintain the integrity of our total service offerings while the damage caused by salt water flooding is repaired."
Emergency business operations procedures were activated last week to assist headquarters operations, and Evergreen Line declared "force majeure" pursuant to Clause 21 of its bill of lading because performance of the contract was greatly affected by Hurricane Sandy.
