(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.; July 2, 2013) – Jacksonville-based Crowley Maritime Corp. has been honored once again as one of the healthiest companies in the region by the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council (FCWWC). The company was selected for the 2013 Healthiest Companies Award in the gold category for its demonstrated commitment to employee health and wellbeing through the implementation of comprehensive worksite health-promotion strategies. The FCWWC is an organization that has a mission of improving the health of the First Coast community by sharing resources and providing guidance to its member companies.

The gold award was presented to Crowley’s Katy Keene, manager, employee programs, by Jacksonville’s Mayor Alvin Brown during the fifth-annual FCWWC First Coast Worksite Wellness Conference and Healthiest Companies Awards Luncheon. This is the fourth consecutive year that Crowley has been honored by the FCWWC with Healthiest Companies Awards but its first gold as the last three years’ awards were in the silver category.

“Crowley is honored to receive the Healthiest Companies Award once again from the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council and even more excited to advance since last year up to gold level,” said Keene. “We are always appreciative to be recognized in this way and to be given the opportunity to network with other organizations and successful companies within our community focusing on the same goal of creating a healthy place to work.”

Crowley has a dedicated website that serves as the hub to promote company-wide wellness programs, such as health and nutritional challenges designed to help improve employee health. The website also offers a health library, motivational e-cards and a monthly, wellness-focused newsletter. Each year Crowley provides on-site health evaluations and risk assessments and flu shots to its employees, in addition to offering health coaching programs, weight management and gym reimbursement programs.

“We strive to continually develop, expand and provide our employees with an innovative wellness program,” Keene said. “At Crowley, we believe it’s important to provide our employees with the means to lead a healthy lifestyle.”
