CMA CGM Marco Polo.Mega-ship CMA CGM Marco Polo, with a capacity of 16,020 20-foot-equivalent units, made its first call to a continental European port on its maiden voyage at the Port of Hamburg today, and is being handled at the HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai.
The Marco Polo is 396 meters (about 1,299 feet) long and 176 feet wide — the biggest container ship in the world — and sails in the French shipping company’s FAL1 service between the Far East and northern Europe.
It is the first container mega-ship (defined as a vessel with capacity of more than 16,000 TEUs) to call at the Port of Hamburg.
