CMA CGM to Debut Marseilles-Algeria Shuttle

CMA CGM on March 25 will launch a new service linking Marseilles, France, with the Port of Bejaia, Algeria.

The new Marseille-Bejaia Shuttle will depart from Marseilles on Monday evenings, arriving in Bejaia on Wednesdays, and depart from Bejaia on Saturdays, with arrival in Marseilles on Monday mornings. Cargo from Italy and Spain on the French carrier’s EURO NAF services will be transshipped in Marseilles. Cargo handled will include containers and roll-on, roll-off goods.

The French carrier said it was launching the service to improve its service and transit time while avoiding congestion at Bejaia’s container terminal.

Separately, the carrier said cargo booked to Algiers but without a specific discharge requirement will henceforth be routed to ALTERCO (Algerian Terminal Containers), which is operated by CMA CGM and located in the Rouiba industrial zone 25 kilometers (about 15.5 miles) from the Port of Algiers.
