CMA CGM will raise rates on cargo moving on its services from India to ports in East and West Africa.
The French container carrier said rates from India to East Africa will go up by $200 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot container, starting Feb. 1. The proposed increase on shipments from India to West Africa will be $150 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container, effective March 1.
“In order to maintain the high level of reliability and efficiency of our services to meet the needs of customers, we have decided to implement such rate increases,” CMA CGM India said.
The move follows a $200 per-TEU GRI notice by Mediterranean Shipping, effective Feb. 1; a $200 per-TEU increase by Emirates Shipping Line, effective Feb. 1; and a $150 per-TEU increase by Maersk Line, starting March 1, on the same trade lanes.
