APL Sets Peak-Season Surcharges on India-US Trades

Singapore-based container carrier APL will impose a peak-season surcharge on cargo shipped on its services from India to the U.S., effective Dec. 15.

The planned surcharges will be $360 per 20-foot, $450 per 40-foot, $505 per 40-foot high cube and $570 per 45-foot high cube container.

APL India said the surcharges will apply to all cargo and containers, including open-top and flat-rack equipment, bound for ports in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The carrier also said it will apply a similar surcharge on all shipments from India to Canada. Starting Dec. 15, the surcharges will be $480 per 20-foot, $600 per 40-foot, $675 per 40-foot high cube and $760 per 45-foot high cube container.
