APL will impose a general rate increase on April 1, 2013, in its trans-Atlantic trades.
The hike of $500 per 20-foot-equivalent unit will apply to all standard dry equipment from North Europe and Mediterranean ports to the United States, Canada, Latin America and Central America.
The ocean carrier said its services in the trans-Atlantic makret in 2012 experienced “a significant decline in freight rates” even as costs increased.
