APL Adds Peak-Season Surcharge on India-US Trade

Singapore-based container carrier APL imposed a peak-season surcharge on cargo shipped from India to the U.S., effective June 15.

The surcharges are $360 per 20-foot, $450 per 40-foot, $505 per 40-foot high cube and $570 per 45-foot high cube container.

The surcharges apply to all cargo and containers, including open-top and flat-rack equipment, bound for ports in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In other news, Maersk Line announced a $500 per TEU general rate increase on shipments from the Far East to the east coast of South America, starting July 1.
