The 8,500-TEU CMA CGM Figaro, the largest CMA CGM container ship ever to call at a Canadian port, will leave Vancouver Thursday for the Far East.
The Figaro is one of 15 vessels on CMA CGM’s Columbus loop that links Asia with western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest. The loop also serves the U.S. East Coast via the Suez Canal.
Environmental features include an electronically-controlled engine that reduces oil consumption by 25 percent and fuel consumption by 3 percent. The vessel can super slow-steam at a speed of 14 to 15 knots and is equipped with the hookups necessary for operating from shore-side electrical power when the vessel is at berth.
