APL said Friday it will apply a general rate increase to all cargo moving from the Far East to India and Pakistan.
The proposed increases of $100 per 20-foot container and $200 per 40-footer will take effect on March 1.
AP said operating conditions in the Intra-Asia trade remained highly challenging, “with freight rates at unsustainably low levels.”
It called the increases “essential” for APL to sustain its comprehensive service offering in the trade.
APL is a unit of Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines.
