American Shipping Group Realigns Management

American Shipping Group, named Frank Peake as vice president Tuesday, and appointed Steve Hastings to succeed him as president of its affiliated company, Sea Star Line.

In his new capacity with American Shipping Group, Peake will focus on strategic planning for all ASG companies operating in the Puerto Rico and Alaskan markets.

American Shipping Group is owned by Saltchuk Resources, which owns 90 percent of Sea Star Line, a Jones Act carrier that serves the trades with Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, and 100 percent of Totem Ocean Trailer Express (“TOTE”), which serves the Alaska trade.

“These organizational changes will allow us to best utilize the skill sets of these two very talented gentlemen.” said Tim Engle, chairman of American Shipping Group.

Engle said Peake’s background in strategic planning and his experience in both the Puerto Rico and Alaska markets will help him in shaping the future strategic vision of ASG.

Peake has been president of Sea Star Line for the last six years.

Hastings has been with Sea Star Line since 1996 serving in a number of key leadership roles within the operations group.
