Rails, trucking companies received less for services in February

The Producer Price Index in the transportation and warehousing sector slowed to 0.5 percent in February from 0.8 percent in January.

The transportation and warehousing piece of the PPI, which uses U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data to evaluate wholesale prices and is a measure of inflation, indicated prices received by large railroads fell 1.9 percent in February after dropping 4.3 percent in January.

Prices received by trucking companies, which includes both truckload and LTL, declined 0.2 percent in February from the previous month.

Warehousing and storage prices were flat in February from January.
