Tire manufacturer to use Maersk subsidiary for in country distribution

Michelin chose Damco, the logistics arm or A. P. Moller-Maersk, as its logistics and customs clearance provider in Vietnam.

Under its three-year contract with the tire manufacturer, Damco will handle Michelin’s exports from Thailand into Vietnam, inland transportation, cross-docking and distribution to customers in Vietnam.

Damco said it will also manage warehouse operations for Michelin in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, where it has a state of the art facility and the first in Vietnam which is fully automated and which also provides a full EDI capability to share data electronically with clients and vendors, using industry standard and proprietary formats.

The new logistics set up will enable Michelin to distribute directly to almost 100 dealers across the country.
