Four-year contract to provide local, global forwarding

Agility, the Kuwait-based provider of logistics services, has been awarded a four-year contract to provide local and global forwarding, transportation and customs clearance services for RasGas, the largest liquefied natural gas company in Qatar.

"Qatar is crucially important to the growth of Agility in the region and this deal represents an important milestone in our company's six-year history locally,” said Elias Monem, chief executive of Agility in the Middle East and North Africa. “During this time we have invested substantial sums in Qatar to ensure that our global reach and local capabilities match to deliver unparalleled standards of service for important clients such as RasGas."

Based in Ras Laffan, Qatar, RasGas Company is owned by Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil RasGas. It operates production facilities that treat, liquefy and export LNG to countries across Asia, Europe and the United States. RasGas currently produces over 20 million metric tons of LNG per year and operates five trains to transport it. Its production volume is expected to grow to about 37 million metric tons by the end of the decade, with the completion of seven operational trains.

In addition to its worldwide network of 550 offices in 120 territories, Agility has more than a million square meters of warehousing and storage in Qatar, and over 1,000 staff, as well as a fleet of 300 vehicles. Agility provides supply chain technology and logistics services that support upstream (oil and gas exploration phase and crude oil), midstream (gas-related) and downstream (refined/finished products). Worldwide, publicly traded Agility has $6.8 billion in annual revenue, and more than 37,000 employees in over 550 offices in 120 countries.
