Kuehne + Nagel have inaugurated a trucking hub in Vienna to drive growth of the Swiss logistics company’s overland groupage operations across Eastern Europe.
The new Eastern Hub will connect all major East European nations with more than 300 weekly departures from the Austrian capital.
The Vienna facility will boost capacity utilization, reduce transit times and increase the number of routes with daily departures within Europe, the company said.
“The hub in Vienna complements our strategic approach to establish a highly efficient network and … offer reliable lead times across … all of Europe,” said Jorg Herwig, Senior Vice President Road & Rail Eastern Europe for Kuehne+Nagel.
Kuehne+Nagel’s overland groupage unit posted above-market growth of 10 percent in 2011, driven by the acquisition of the U.K.’s RH Freight Group and Drude Logistik of Germany during the year.
