Kuehne + Nagel establishes new automotive parts distribution centre in Vancouver

Toronto / CA, February 08, 2011 - Kuehne + Nagel has been awarded a three-year contract to manage the BMW Regional Distribution Centre in Vancouver servicing authorised dealers of Western Canada.

The scope of services for the BMW Regional Distribution Centre in Vancouver includes inbound goods receiving, put-away, storage, picking and packing, returns from dealers, and kit assembly, as well as administrative and dealer support for BMW automotive and motorcycle parts, accessories, lifestyle products and hazardous materials.

Kuehne + Nagel is providing a 88,300 sqft (approx. 8,200 sqm) warehouse facility which allows for further extension up to 108,000 sqft (10,034 sqm). Additionally, it holds approximately 32,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs), stored in a three-story mezzanine with shelving, cantilever and pallet racking.

The new business in the automotive sector and the BMW facility investment will further strengthen Kuehne + Nagel’s position in automotive aftermarket warehousing and distribution in the growing Canadian market. Vancouver, as an Asia-Pacific trade lane gateway, is a highly promising area for contract logistics business and this new contract will also increase the current Kuehne + Nagel footprint significantly.

Currently, Kuehne + Nagel provides services for the BMW Group from inbound to production and aftermarket logistics, as well as reverse logistics in eight countries at 17 different locations.
