U.S manufacturing technology orders in January rose 8.4 percent year-over-year, highlighting “manufacturers’ increasing confidence in future growth,” according to the Association for Manufacturing Technology.
Technology orders in January totaled $401.69 million, a 26.5 percent decrease from December. AMT President Douglas Woods said the strong start to the year showed manufacturers’ “bottom lines are being channeled into investments in advanced manufacturing technologies.”
The strong technology manufacturing report reinforces the stead surge of expansion seen in overall factory production. U.S manufacturing production has expanded 30 straight months through January, according to the Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing index.
