London-based TT Club, an insurer that provides cargo, property and liability coverage to freight forwarders and logistics companies, reports that innovation in the logistics sector is on the rise.
The company has observed that the adoption of technology capability and tailored supply chain processes is increasing, trending away from rate-driven commoditization.
“Many in the freight transport industry feel that pressure on rates from customers has shorn the operator of the necessary resource to deliver the added-value elements that distinguishes logistics from the straightforward ‘A to B’ transportation of freight,” said Brian Sullivan, TT Club’s development director for the U.K. and Ireland, in a written statement. “As a result of my own and the Club’s experience, I would contest this view.”
