Waterloo, Ontario-based logistics solutions provider Descartes Systems Group has signed an agreement with Nippon Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System to file customs documents electronically with Japan Customs according to its newly enacted Advanced Filing Rules.
A bill to amend part of Japan’s Customs Tariff Law was passed in March, requiring vessel operators or non-vessel-operating common carriers to submit information on maritime container cargo headed for a Japanese port to Japan Customs electronically no later than 24 hours before departure of the vessel from a loading port.
The electronic report from foreign filers will now be made through service providers authorized by NACCS Center.
