Cass Information Systems, the invoice payment company that produces the Cass Freight Index used by The Journal of Commerce, reported third quarter profit of $6.1 million, basically stable year-over-year with an increase of 0.5 percent.
Profit in the first nine months of 2012 was $18.0 million, a 2.5 percent increase from 2011’s $17.5 million in the same period.
Transportation volume in the third quarter, ending Sept. 30, rose 2.9 percent year-over-year from $5.4 billion to $5.6 billion, because of increased activity from base customers and new customers.
Year-to-date transportation volume was $16.6, a 9 percent increase from last year, which was $15.3 billion.
Quarterly revenue was $27.9 million, up 2.1 percent from last year.
