Hub Group Inc. reported record net income of $18.5 million for the third quarter, ended Sept. 30, 2012, an increase of 14 percent compared to the same quarter last year. Diluted earnings per share for the third quarter of 2012 was $0.50, up from $0.44 in the third quarter of 2011.
The company said revenue from its Hub segment rose 10 percent year-over-year to $619 million, and intermodal revenue in particular increased 11 percent to $444 million, because of 9 percent volume growth. Truck brokerage revenue was up 6 percent to $88 million in the third quarter.
The Mode segment's revenue was $200 million for the third quarter, up 1 percent compared to the same period last year, the company said.
