Expeditors' Third Quarter Profit Drops 17 Percent

Seattle-based global logistics provider Expeditors International of Washington today reported profit in the third quarter was $88.49 million, a decrease of 17.0 percent compared with $106.6 million for the same quarter in 2011.

Profit in the first nine months of 2012 was $249.15 million, falling 14.9 percent from $292.84 million in the same period last year.

Total quarterly revenue was $1.53 billion, a decrease of 5.0 percent from last year’s $1.61 billion in the third quarter. Revenue from January to September was $4.45 billion, down from $4.65 billion in the first nine months of 2011.

Quarterly revenue was $622.68 million for air freight, $549.25 million for ocean freight and ocean services and $359.74 million for customs brokerage and other services.
