DB Schenker Logistics will launch a new service for French wine producers at the ProWein trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, from March 24-26.
The logistics provider will offer in-house express pickup service to wine producers in France, shortening the lead time between wineries and export platforms and ensuring the sensitive cargo is less affected by variations in temperature. The wine will be picked up and moved in special insulated-roof trailers for delivery at DB Schenker’s heat-insulated freight depots, where the wine will then be transferred into refrigerated ocean freight containers ready for export. The express pickup service can also be used to export wine via air freight.
For exports to China, Japan, Korea, Australia and the U.S., a new less-than-containerload groupage service is also available using refrigerated containers. There are also plans to consolidate shipments of wine and spirits from neighboring Switzerland, Germany, Spain and northern Italy.
