ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH, England — CEVA Logistics, a leading global supply chain management company, is delighted to announce that it has won a prestigious global award in the Automotive sector, winning the Aftermarket Parts Logistics category at the Automotive Supply Chain Global Awards.

As a vital part of the automotive supply chain and an essential and ongoing link between manufacturer and consumer, the Aftermarket Parts Logistics Award aims to recognize the company, Own Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or service provider, which has done most to satisfy customer requirements while safeguarding profitability. CEVA was presented with the award at a ceremony in Frankfurt on 27 November 2012.

CEVA recognizes that the need for leaner, more efficient operations has never been more critical. With this in mind, the company created a partnership between five automotive OEMs to establish a shared user distribution network for through-the-night deliveries to automotive dealerships and workshops across the United Kingdom.

Simon Hobbs, CEVA’s Vice President for Automotive in the UK commented: “We are delighted to be recognized for all our hard work in developing this collaborative working model. The partnership is not intended to reduce cost at the expense of service levels, and is engineered to provide an average weekly service level in excess of 99.5% on-time delivery of complete orders.”

The network was developed due to all partners having similar logistics requirements in terms of service. By pooling volumes CEVA is able to achieve increased drop densities that unlock potential economies of scale.

Vehicle efficiency improvements of radial vehicle drops per vehicle increased by 58%, radial vehicle fill improved from 68% to 80%, and trunk efficiency improved from 84% to 93% since the network was first established.

Simon continued: “Our network eliminates over one million truck miles from UK roads each year and substantially reduces our partners’ CO2 emissions by around 23% compared to operating a dedicated solution.”

Automotive is a significant sector for CEVA, and the company has vast experience globally working with eight of the top ten manufacturers in the market. In the UK, CEVA has also recently become an associate member of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) to gain even greater knowledge and expertise within the sector. Across multiple areas of the Automotive supply chain, not just aftermarket parts, CEVA offers integrated, end-to-end supply chain solutions for finished vehicles, inbound solutions and production support.
