2500th Volvo FH truck delivered for Girteka Logistic
Girteka Logistics has taken first deliveries from recent order of forty new Volvo FH tractor units in Vilnius. New delivery marks the 2500th Volvo truck delivered to Girteka Logistics since 2007 from Volvo Trucks. The investment decision in Volvo fleet was based with safety and fuel efficiency at the top of the agenda.
High safety standards and low fuel consumption is indicative for a Girteka Logistics that, like Volvo, views road safety and environment as fundamental values. Girteka Logistics CEO Edvardas Liachovičius says: “It is all about delivering high quality transportation services to our customers having in mind driver safety and the environment.”
With this in mind, Girteka Logistics management had little hesitation in continuing cooperation with Volvo when the decision was made to further invest in its fleet. “Volvo stood at high mark in meeting our ambitions in terms of our trucks reliability, safety and fuel efficiency ambitions,” says Edvardas Liachovičius.
Equipped with Globetrotter cabs, intelligent I-Shift automated manual gearboxes, new Volvo FH 4x2 and 6x2 tractor units are powered by 6-cylinder Volvo Euro VI engines producing 460 and 540 hp respectively. 40 new Volvo FH trucks will be delivered over a 4-month period.
Fuel efficiency and performance
New FH tractors are expected to cover some 180,000 km/annum collecting and delivering goods throughout 30 countries company operates. Current Volvo FHs in fleet have impressed Girteka Logistics in terms of fuel consumption. “Our new Volvo FH Euro 6 trucks delivered from 2 to 3% fuel consumption reduction in comparison with previous generation of trucks. This actually represents a significant reductions in fuel usage and emissions, which again plays an important part in our sustainability ambitions,” says Edvardas Liachovičius.
“Furthermore, the drivers are impressed with the trucks. They have the power and comfort to perform. Available torque in combination with the I-Shift gearbox makes even the steepest gradients seem less punishing,” he added. In addition to quality, safety plays an important role at Girteka Logistics. “We can be sure that our drivers are safe in the Volvo, and we feel this is very important,” concludes Edvardas Liachovičius.
