NYK Logistics and Yusen Air & Sea Service, part of Japan’s NYK Group, consolidated operations in India by combining their local arms into a single business unit.
The new combined entity, called Yusen Logistics (India) Co. Ltd., began operations Oct. 1. The merger, the latest in a phased global integration program, was jointly announced by NYK Logistics (India) and Yusen Air & Sea Service (India) at a recent trade conference in New Delhi.
“Yusen Logistics (India) is uniquely positioned to provide customers with the most comprehensive set of solutions available for all their logistics needs, supplemented by network support at over 400 locations in 35 countries,” officials said.
The merged unit currently has nine office locations in India with some 300 employees and 45,000 square meters of warehousing space. Plans for the global merger were announced by the Tokyo-based group in February last year, and the entire process is expected to be completed by March 2012.
