Maersk Sells Gilbert Company to Logistics Firm's Founders

GPR Logistics said it acquired the East Coast facilities and operations of the Gilbert Company from Maersk Inc. the U.S. subsidiary of Maersk Line.

The Gilbert Company is a Keasby, N.J. provider of warehouse, distribution and transportation services provider to the national retail industry, the company said.

GPR was established by Richard Gilbert, who founded the Gilbert Company in 1986 and Gregg Prisco, former president and CEO of P&O Nedlloyd Logistics, which has owned and run The Gilbert Company since P&O Nedlloyd bought it in 2002. Maersk acquired the Gilbert Company as part of its purchase of P&O Nedlloyd in 2005.

Details of the acquisition, which was effective Oct. 1 2011, were not disclosed.
