IJS Global opened a dedicated warehouse in the Philippines to handle the logistics needs of Novartis Animal Healthcare.
The Amsterdam-based global logistics provider will handle warehousing, and air, land and sea distribution from its new 1,967-square-foot temperature-controlled warehouse in Manila under a three-year deal with the Swiss pharmaceutical company.
The facility is equipped with 500 pallet positions and a chiller designed to store livestock vaccines at between 3 to 8 degrees Celsius (37 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit).
IJS Global will use a second ambient warehouse facility at Davao City to supplement the Manila site’s distribution capacity.
“Most of the shipments are bulky and therefore travel by ocean, but we also handle a significant amount of airfreight where the shipments are urgent and cannot wait for an ocean transit,” said Rose Sum, IJS Global’s managing director for the Philippines. “The majority of the vital vaccines we handle through the San Dionisio facility are for distribution throughout the country, which can mean air, land and sea and are for use in both poultry and swine.”
