ANA Cargo Traffic Slides, JAL Tonnage Jumps

Japan’s All Nippon Airways in November saw international cargo traffic slip 0.3 percent year-over-year, while rival Japan Airlines in the same period saw traffic rise 4.8 percent, the first increase in 18 months.

ANA’s international traffic in the first eight months of fiscal 2011, rose 2.7 percent year-over-year, while JAL’s traffic was down 51 percent in the same period.

ANA’s domestic cargo volume fell for the first time in six months in November on a year-over-year basis, edging down 1.2 percent. The carrier’s domestic cargo volume in the April-November period was up 1.1 percent from the same period of 2010.

JAL’s domestic cargo volume declined for 17 months in a row in November on a year-on-year basis, dropping 7.2 percent. JAL’s domestic cargo volume in the April-November period was down 17.4 percent from a year earlier.
