President Obama will sign an executive order to establish a center for coordinating export control enforcement, the White House said Monday.
In video remarks recorded for delivery Tuesday morning to the annual Commerce Department Bureau of Industry and Security export controls update conference, the president said that the Export Enforcement Coordination Center will strengthen enforcement and “eliminate gaps and duplication” in enforcement efforts.
The administration’s goal is to establish a single list of controlled export products, a single set of licensing policies, and a common information technology system for processing and tracking export licenses.

Marion Blakey, president of the Aerospace Industries Association, said an administration review of one section of the U.S. Munitions List found 74 percent of the items could be moved to the less restrictive Commerce Control List.
“The clarification and eventual consolidation of the Munitions and Commerce Control lists will have a dramatic impact on small- and medium-sized companies,” Blakey said.
