TSA Nominee Gets Committee Nod

Homeland Security panel approves nomination

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Thursday approved the nomination of Erroll Southers to be the next head of the Transportation Security Administration.

Southers is the chief of homeland security and intelligence for the Los Angeles World Airports Police Department. He got a strong endorsement from the American Federation of Government Employees, which represents 12,000 TSA security officers.

The nomination now goes to the Senate for final approval
